After your screening, your doctor will review your results and discuss the management plan with you.
Normal result
A normal result indicates that the imaging findings show no radiological evidence of breast cancer.
-
Remember that no screening test is 100% accurate. Even if your imaging result is normal, you should:
-
be breast aware at all times and consult a doctor promptly if you notice any unusual breast changes; and
receive annual breast cancer screening..
-
Abnormal/Incomplete result
-
An abnormal or incomplete screening result indicates the need for further assessment. Yet, it does not necessarily imply a diagnosis of breast cancer. If you receive an abnormal or incomplete result, your service provider will contact you to arrange a consultation to discuss your screening results and follow-up plan. Further assessment or management will be arranged according to your needs, which may include:
Comparing your results with prior examination(s), if available
Additional imaging (e.g. additional views of mammogram and/or ultrasound)
Short interval follow-up
Referral to a specialist for further investigation or management e.g. biopsy
